Fabric facade.

Functional principle of a bio-climate façade based on a textile façade

Fabric facades are a "green" building technology to control building temperatures without energy consumption. Our self-developed and patented facade products have remarkable advantages against competitors.

A fabric facade is a light weight cladding for external walls ventilated at rear. Depending on the material and designed used, the facade fulfill different functions such as blinds, noise protection, sunscreen, etc. Specially developed coatings ensure a long service life and ensure self-cleaning properties of the cladding.

rohoflex is a turnkey facade solutions for fabric facades consisting of tensioning profile and architectural textiles. rohoflex special design features enables easy installation of light effects or add a 3D forming effect to the facade.

Before, afterwards

Thanks to its unique transparency, the circulation of the ventilation technology is given and at the same time the building is visually upgraded.

Case study

Full glass facade are widely used because the architect like the open and light-filled design. In the latitude in which Germany is located, architects generally assume that buildings do not require any air conditioning. Builders want to keep costs low and do not plan the use of any building air conditioning.

The consequence
In the months of April till October the internal temperatures are rising to an uncomfortable level. Builders recognize this problem too late and avoid glass facades in future projects. Which caused already significant decline in sales of glass fronts.

Temperature measurement taken in April
19,3 °C outside temperature
28,2 °C internal temperature taken at the southeast side of the building

When the building was finished the architect suggested evaporative cooling air conditioner or a Facade greening.

These solutions have the following disadvantages
- Evaporative cooling have healthy concerns when poorly maintained. This causes permanently maintenance work. High acquisition and operating costs.

- Facade greening are not always possible due to climatic conditions or building heights.  It causes permanently maintenance work as well.

A better solution is the fabric facade
+ Low acquisition costs
+ Maintenance-free
+ Higher efficiency than sun blinds
+ Can easily be added to existing buildings
+ Works under any climate

+ Protects the glass facade against damage due to sand storms
+ Environmentally friendly
+ No health risks

... Just to list a few.

Frequently asked questions about textile facades
Why to chose a textile facade?

A fabric facade is also named a bioclimatic facade because it effects the so called gray energy of a building. Like a passive air conditioner or ventilated facade. It comes with more positive features. In desert areas it also protects the glass from the sand paper effect. It protects privacy since it is vision blocking. And last but not least it can visually enhance a building. Due to it's leightweight design it is easy to apply to already exisitng buidlings. And gives a very unique look.

Why is a correct mount of the fabric so important?

High temperature differences, fitful wind loads and permanent exposure to the weahter elements set the material under stress. Incorrect installation can couse a chain reaction by small damages.

What does the rohoflex different?

A smooth and uniform force distribution. Compensation of temperature stresses. Uniform tension over the entire area up to the corners.

Point vs. linear attachment
